CASSETTA
NOSTALGIC
TAPE & DELAY MEDIUM
Born from a quiet love for tape and cassette players
We wanted to take that feeling, the drift of a tape running just slightly out of time, the soft blur of something loved and worn, and shape it into repeats every musician can feel in their hands. Notes bloom, fade, and breathe like memories replayed just once more. Cassetta doesn't aim for perfect. It aims for a true tone that lingers, echoes that feel like remembering. Plug in, play a single note, and let it drift somewhere beautiful…
Specifications
-
REPEATS: Sets the amount of tape-style regeneration, from a single echo to long, self-oscillating trails.
TIME: Sets delay time, with the drifting, tape-style character running throughout the range.
FADER: Blends the clean signal against the delayed, effected signal. At max level it kills the dry signal.
WOW: Depth of slow, smooth pitch drift - the classic tape "wobble."
FLUTTER: Depth of faster, finer pitch modulation - tape flutter.
AGE: One knob spanning clean tape to heavily worn tape: fresh vs worn tape, dub, and handheld recorder and vintage hiss tonal spectrum build together as it's turned up.
HEADS: Selects the delay's time division across 5 positions: quarter note, half note, dotted eighth, and two multi-head mode that plays two taps at once.
-
The tap tempo footswitch does double duty: tap it normally to set TIME by tap tempo, or press and hold to switch into expression-mapping mode, linking an expression pedal or CV source to any control knob.
Plug in an expression pedal or CV source and hold the footswitch to enter assign mode (the LED lights solid).
While holding, turn any control knob - that knob is now under expression control, live.
Release to confirm; the LED blinks to confirm the assignment.
A quick tap of the same switch still works as ordinary tap-tempo, untouched by the expression assignment.
Holding without turning a knob clears the current assignment, confirmed by a fast LED blink.
-
SYNC IN: Synchronizes Cassetta's delay time to any hard-sync sampler or sequencer.
CV IN: Accepts any LFO or synth signal to modulate delay time in real time. Cassetta was built to pair with "it... MKII" this way, turning that modulation into chorus- and flanger-style textures.
-
DIP 1: Selects where AGE's filtering is applied: across the whole signal, or only on the wet (delayed) signal.
DIP 2 - 4: Not yet finalized.

Press and hold the bypass footswitch to stop the tape and drop into a reverse-play effect. While in reverse, TIME sets the playback sample rate of each reversed grain.
